Now i read about this pirated copy of a Windows 7 ISO having a virus. Back when i was younger every game i purchased had the product key in some random place in the packaging and it only took me losing a couple before i decided kee[ing them all in one place was best practice, So got into good habit of keeping list of all product keys i=on excel spreadsheet land saving it as a draft in my email account.

I have always been under the impression it is legal to download a copy of any software as long it has not been manipulated to circumvernt the products anti-piracy protection.
I thought Windows 7 ISO is just an original of the disk but you still require the product keys. It is my understanding that this infection is on an ISO copy of Windows 7. People are downplaying this because they say it is a pirated copy. Other ones aren't just copies but they also come with a modified version that works out of the box, now tht's where you have to be carefull, since they could actually come implanted with malware, either way, pirated copies of windows aren't such a good idea because of the security updates, you can actually download some with a pirated version of windows, but it's not recommended because of the software validation updates.Īlso hamluis, don't wanna start a discussion here, but googling "malware via pirated software" will lead you to believe all the pirated software has malware, just how googling "virus in computer" will lead you to believe all the computers have viruses. Not encouraging piracy here, but living in a country where buying a copy of windows costs more than some computers, i can tell you that not all pirated copies of windows carry malware of some sort, most copies are just that, copies of an original disk, that comes wth the instruction to stay off the internet as to avoid validation and then using a crack of some sort.
